Raised on a farm in Southern Alberta, Luke Sander has called Lethbridge home for the past 30 years.  Luke is a Registered Psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP).  He has completed over 6000 psychological assessments, with over 20 years of experience in the field of clinical assessment and counselling. He completed his Bachelor of Arts and Science Degree in 1994 and then went onto complete his Special Case Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology and Human Neuro-Psychology in 1996.  After graduating, he designed and conducted numerous mental health and health care research projects across Canada, while continuing to test patients with brain injuries and other mental health related challenges in Southern Alberta. He began his work in private practice in 1996 and has maintained this practice ever since.  In addition, he has worked for the Court of Queen’s Bench, Hospitals in Southern Alberta, and has over 20 years of experience as a psychologist for a school division in Southern Alberta; he consults with psychiatrists, pediatricians, the federal government, numerous school divisions across Alberta,  and other medical specialists on complex cases, and has consulted with Alberta Child and Family Services.  He provides psycho-educational and psychological assessments, individual, family and group therapy. In addition to his many years of clinical/assessment work and training, he focuses on providing therapy over a brief time period (i.e., between four to six sessions).  He utilizes a variety of techniques from several different theories such as Family Systems Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Play Therapy.  He has also been invited to share his extensive expertise locally, throughout the province, and internationally over the past twenty years.

In addition to his clinical practice, Luke has been a sessional instructor for one term and guest lecturer for the University of Lethbridge (Master of Counselling Education Program) from 1995 to 2015.  He has been married for over 25 years and has four boys. He has spent many years coaching a variety of sports within the community and at numerous schools and enjoys skiing, fishing, hiking, and gardening with his family.
